A historically significant collection of six vintage Jewish and Zionist periodicals from 1952–1957, including three issues of The American Zionist and three issues of Jewish Frontier. These magazines offer contemporary perspectives on early Israel, Zionism, American Jewish life, and Middle Eastern politics during the first decade of the State of Israel. Highlights include articles on Chaim Weizmann (1952), “When Herzl Died” (1954), “Non-Aggression Pacts—First Step to Peace” by Abba Eban (1954), “Albert Einstein” by Kurt Blumenfeld (1955), and “Soviet Arms and Israel’s Security” by Moshe Dayan (1957). Especially interesting as primary-source material, these articles were published while many of the political and military events discussed were still unfolding. The issues also contain period advertisements and material relating to travel to Israel and mid-century Jewish life. Condition: Vintage condition with toning, staining, creasing, edge wear, tears, and handwritten notations. The October 1957 Jewish Frontier has substantial loss and tearing to the front cover.
