Productdetails

Beautiful matching pair of Vintage Mid Century Alpine / Tyrolean 3D-effect narrative silhouette pictures, featuring romantic European folk scenes displayed beneath original convex bubble glass. The companion scenes feature wonderfully crisp black silhouettes dressed in traditional Tyrolean / Alpine inspired clothing. One depicts a gentleman offering a flower to a lady carrying a harvest basket, while the companion scene features the gentleman with a traditional Alpine-style horn, accompanied by the lady. What makes these especially striking is their layered construction. The detailed black silhouettes are reverse-painted directly onto the inner surface of the curved convex glass, creating a dimensional effect over the colorful scenic artwork positioned behind them. The backgrounds depict idyllic Alpine mountain and lake landscapes in beautiful shades of blue, green, yellow and soft peach, with towering mountains, trees and calm blue water. The separation between the reverse-painted silhouettes and scenic backgrounds gives the artwork wonderful visual depth as the viewing angle changes. Both pieces retain their matching minimalist brass-gold tone metal frames and original hanging loops. At approximately 5" x 7" each, they're a fantastic smaller-scale companion set that displays beautifully together. Perfect for collectors of Tyrolean art, Alpine decor, European folk art, reverse painted glass, convex bubble glass, silhouette art, courting couples, mountain landscapes, vintage companion pictures, Mid Century wall art, Retro decor, folk costume art and vintage framed glass art.
