Productdetails

Scenes from the Southside is the second studio album by Bruce Hornsby and the Range, released in 1988 as the follow-up to their highly successful debut The Way It Is. Overview and Style The album continues the band's signature piano-driven pop-rock sound, blending catchy melodies with soulful keyboards and rootsy Americana. The lyrics often explore small-town nostalgia, Americana, and thoughtful storytelling, largely co-written by Bruce and his brother John Hornsby. Backing musicians in The Range included guitarists George Marinelli and Peter Harris, bassist Joe Puerta, and drummer John Molo. Key Tracks and Hits "The Valley Road": The album's lead single became a major hit, peaking at number five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and reaching number one on the Rock and Adult Contemporary charts. "Look Out Any Window": A punchy, expansive track featuring an environmental message that also performed well on the charts."Jacob's Ladder": Though famously a number-one hit for Huey Lewis and the News a year earlier, this version showcases the song as co-written by the Hornsby brothers. "Defenders of the Flag": Features a guest harmonica appearance by Huey Lewis.
