Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass was a hugely popular 1960s instrumental pop-and-brass band led by trumpeter Herb Alpert. Sound and Style The band played a bright, upbeat mix of Latin jazz, pop, and easy listening often nicknamed "Ameriachi".Their signature style featured trumpets playing in tight harmonies (thirds), catchy melodies, and percussion. Famous hits include "The Lonely Bull," "A Taste of Honey," "Spanish Flea," and "Tijuana Taxi".Success and Records The group sold over 72 million records and won multiple Grammy Awards.
