vintage mid-century modern carved wooden spoon rest (or small tray/trinket dish), hand-carved in the Philippines out of monkey pod wood (or a similar lightweight tropical hardwood like acacia). Spoon rest / single-pocket dish. The contoured shape with a raised divider at the top is designed to cradle a cooking spoon handle and bowl to keep countertops clean. Material & Origin: The sticker on the bottom indicates it was manufactured in the Philippines. Vintage Philippine wood imports like this were popular from the 1960s through the 1980s and were almost exclusively carved from monkey pod or acacia wood.
