Productdetails
Brass candlesticks with square bases and complex turned stems were a staple of domestic lighting throughout nineteenth-century Britain. The manufacturing process typically involved casting separate components—the base, the stem sections, and the socket—using the sand-casting method before turning them on a lathe and brazing them together. Designs like the diamond-faceted node and the beehive motif evolved from earlier Georgian styles into more robust Victorian interpretations. These sturdy holders were designed for everyday utility in homes, often incorporating push-up ejector mechanisms within the hollow stems to easily remove stubborn candle stubs. Only surface grime has been dusted off. These have not been cleaned. They have aged in slightly different colors. It could be because one was wrapped in newspaper and the other was not.
