After a three-year hiatus, he got back in the game and on July 11th, 1999, he dropped his 11th studio album aptly named Can't Stay Away. Too $hort had been living in Atlanta for several years and this would be the first of many albums to come that would incorporate ATL's southern influences alongside his West Coast Bay Area sound. Jazze Pha, Jermaine Dupri, and NY to ATL transplant funk lord Erick Sermon contributed to the production along with features by Memphis' 8Ball & MJG and Houston's Scarface. The Bay Area sound would come from Ant Banks and Quint Black with West Coast features by E-40, B-Legit, Daz, and Soopa Fly.
