Softcover ©2020 - Hawk is a Young Adult dystopian fantasy and thriller novel co-written by James Patterson and Gabrielle Charbonnet. It serves as the first book in the Hawk series and a continuation of the Maximum Ride universe, set ten years after the original saga concluded. The story follows 17-year-old Hawk, who has no memory of her past other than being abandoned on a street corner by parents who promised to return but never did. She survives in post-apocalyptic New York City (known as the City of the Dead) by staying under the radar and caring for a group of mutant orphans. Her isolated existence ends when a perilous destiny forces her to take flight, revealing that she is the daughter of Maximum Ride. However, the mission sent after her is not a rescue but an execution, as she becomes entangled in a conflict involving her imprisoned parents, gang-ridden city factions, and a megalomaniacal governor.
