The Great Wave - 3D playing card art on a Playing card. 100% hand cut using an Xacto knife and matt. No lasers or machines used. The Display Stand and Gift Box are Included. Also includes a hologram seal of authenticity that is signed by the artist (me, Anthony Scanlon)! This art piece was made from a deck of playing cards depicting The Great Wave off Kanagawa. The Great Wave is a woodblock print by Japanese ukiyo-e artist Hokusai, created in late 1831 during the Edo period of Japanese history. The print depicts three boats moving through a storm-tossed sea, with a large, cresting wave forming a spiral in the center and Mount Fuji visible in the background. Measures 2.5" x 3.5" (standard playing card size). On the display stand, add 1/2" to the height. Shohin Kirigami is the term I made up for this art style after playing a card game (Rumi 500) with my family. I was already enjoying creating full-size Kirigami art but imagined what they would look like on a small scale, fit onto a playing card. I grabbed a spare deck and gave it a whirl. They loved it and Shohin Kirigami was born. 100% Hand Cut. These make an excellent gift for that hard to buy for fan of The Great Wave!
