We’re all battling something while striving for something else! Embrace Today, While Creating Tomorrow! "King's water" is most commonly a reference to aqua regia, a mixture of nitric acid and hydrochloric acid, typically in a 1:3 molar ratio.“Aqua regia, a highly corrosive mixture of nitric and hydrochloric acids, famously played a role in WWII when it was used to dissolve Nobel Prize medals to prevent their confiscation by the Nazis. Chemist George de Hevesy, working at Niels Bohr's Institute in Copenhagen, dissolved the gold medals of Max von Laue and James Franck in aqua regia to hide them from the invading German forces. After the war, the gold was recovered, recast, and returned to the laureates.”
