This is a fantastic piece of mid-century Americana. It is a vintage Automobile Club of Michigan (AAA) shoulder travel bag, manufactured by the Bearse Manufacturing Company based out of Chicago, Illinois. Bearse Mfg. Co. was a well-known producer of industrial textiles, bags, and military canvas gear throughout the mid-to-late 20th century. Based on the specific oval AAA logo design, the typography of the Michigan text, the heavy-duty metal zipper, and the style of the bottom ID property stamp, this bag dates from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s. These bags were often promotional items or travel perks given to AAA members for trip planning. Measurements: Height: 14 inches Width: 9.5 inches Depth: 5 inches Strap drop: 11.5 inches (adjustable) Condition: The bag is in fair vintage condition and shows authentic signs of age, use, and character. The exterior blue nylon canvas material shows some light staining, scuffing, and minor wrinkling from storage. There is some bubbling or separation happening to the inner lining material on the side panels, which is very common for bags of this era. The white vinyl piping shows some general discolored patina but remains intact.
