This is an original circa-1962 Norwich “Official Mantle-Maris Wear” retail cellophane package originally produced to hold two pairs of boys' briefs. The transparent package features fantastic period graphics of both New York Yankees superstars: MICKEY MANTLE – batting image with facsimile signature ROGER MARIS – batting image with facsimile signature The package also displays the classic “Official Mantle Maris Wear” baseball logo depicting the two sluggers swinging at a baseball, along with the original Norwich branding. Printed directly on the package: “THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS TWO BOYS' BRIEFS” “UNCONDITIONALLY GUARANTEED – 100% COTTON – MACHINE WASHABLE” This is genuine period merchandising associated with the tremendous popularity of Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris following their famous pursuit of Babe Ruth's single-season home-run record. CONDITION: The graphics and printing present beautifully. The package has been preserved remarkably well for an approximately 60+ year-old piece of thin retail cellophane.
