Beautiful antique Czech Bohemian glass trinket box, featuring a dramatic oversized faceted cobalt-blue Czech glass jewel set into an ornate embossed metal case. The richly detailed box features floral and scrolling relief decoration, a raised beaded border surrounding the glass centerpiece, a hinged lid, and a small front thumb tab. The large blue glass stone is open-backed, allowing light to pass through and illuminate the vivid cobalt color and faceting. The metal retains a wonderful original aged patina with oxidation and verdigris, adding to the character of this old European piece. It has not been polished in order to preserve the aged surface.
