Product Details

This vintage ironstone divided plate in the classic Blue Willow chinoiserie pattern features a transfer-printed landscape of a bridge, flowing river, two birds, pagoda, trees, and garden scenes framed by an ornate geometric and floral border. Rendered in deep cobalt blue on a creamy white ground, the segmented form introduces visual rhythm while preserving functional elegance. Marked “Made in Japan,” it belongs to the late 1940s Occupied Japan export period, when postwar ceramics were produced for Western markets, reflecting a fusion of utility, romanticized East Asian motifs, and global decorative storytelling. Measures approximately 10 inches in diameter and 1 inch in depth. The Cabinet Legend: The Narrative Traditionalist: one who finds meaning in scenes, reveres quiet symbolism, and surrounds themselves with objects that carry history, story, and cultivated continuity.
