For the serious collector, here’s a rare opportunity to own an original and complete 1944 pin-up calendar featuring artwork by Gil Elvgren, the master of American pin-up illustration. This piece showcases Elvgren’s classic playful style with a smiling beauty posing on a scale with the cheeky caption beneath “Figures Don’t Lie.” The vibrant artwork is framed by pink, grey, and white geometric designs and is a fine example of the classic WWII era morale-boosting pin-up—a glamorous image designed to lift spirits during wartime. Elvgren’s name is clearly signed on the artwork, and the calendar retains its top January 1944 page (which also includes adjacent December 1943 and February 1944 mini months on either side.)
