Product Details

Vintage Egyptian tourist souvenir presentation box from Cairo, Egypt. The inside lid is printed “THE ENGLISH LIBRARY – N. SIGALAS – Opposite Cook’s Office (Kamel Street) – CAIRO,” indicating the box was sold by a tourist shop near the historic Thomas Cook travel office in Cairo. The exterior features colorful Egyptian revival artwork including stylized figures and hieroglyphic motifs inspired by ancient Egyptian wall art. Boxes like this were commonly used to hold small souvenirs such as jewelry, scarabs, coins, or papyrus art purchased by travelers visiting Egypt during the mid-20th century tourism boom. The box measures approximately 3.75" x 2.75" x 0.75". A nice piece of vintage travel ephemera and Egyptian tourist memorabilia. Vintage paperboard souvenir box showing age-related wear including edge wear, light staining, and discoloration consistent with age and storage. The printed exterior graphics remain colorful and visible with minor surface wear. See pictures for further details on condition.
