Product Details

1940 first edition of Taking the Mystery Out of Builders’ Hardware by Adon H. Brownell, published by Hardware Age. Oversize hardcover measures approx. 11.75" x 8.5" with 212 numbered pages. Illustrated technical reference covering locks, hinges, door hardware, finishes, commercial buildings, hospitals, padlocks and more, with numerous diagrams, photographs, tables and fold-out reference sheets. This copy is personally inscribed and signed by Brownell to Kenneth K. King and dated March 1, 1948. Original fold-outs appear complete. Excellent period reference for architectural hardware, construction, industrial history and vintage trade literature. Covers show rubbing, soiling, edge and corner wear. Interior has scattered toning, foxing, staining and handling marks, particularly to endpapers and some page margins. Fold-out plans and charts appear to all be present, although some have been folded or creased in incorrect locations and show associated edge/crease wear.
