Topinka's Country House (est. May 1958) was a premier Detroit fine-dining destination on W. 7 Mile Road, famous for prime rib, turtle soup, and a cozy atmosphere with red leather and oak paneling. It was a popular hangout for General Motors executives before its demolition in 1989. Details of Topinka's Country House : Location: 24010 W. 7 Mile Rd. at Telegraph Road. Atmosphere: Known for its Fireside Lounge, Terrace Room, and Lamplighter Alley. Closure: The restaurant was closed due to declining business and was demolished in 1989. Legacy: A strip mall currently occupies the former location
