Product Details

This is a vintage mid-century commemorative church plate featuring the Northeast Baptist Mission located in Seymour, Texas. Center Artwork: A detailed, black-ink transfer print depicting the mission building with a large cloud formation in the background. The border is a wide, decorative lace or filigree pattern accented with 22k gold filigree trim. It has a distinctively scalloped and textured "pie crust" style edge. During the 1950s and 1960s, it was highly popular for local churches across the US to commission these porcelain keepsake plates for anniversaries, building dedications, or fundraisers. This plate was produced around 1963 by World Wide Art Studios in Covington, Tennessee. They produced them using photographs or sketches provided by the congregation. The mission printed on the plate later developed into what is known as Northeast Baptist Church, located at 1001 N. Browning in Seymour, TX. There are no chips or cracks and gold filigree is completely intact-no rubbing.

About the Seller
I am a retired Psychology professor who loves vintage items and vintage jewelry. I enjoy going to estate sales, antique stores and browsing on vintage and antique websites. I love to research each item to determine origin and purpose of the items that peak my interest. I have just started selling some of the things I have found over the years. When I am not looking for treasures, I love spending time with my husband, kids, grandkids and my three yorkies! I’m a pretty creative person so, I’ve stated making sun catchers with some of the vintage jewelry I find. I may start selling them too! love to travel and go to the beach as often as I can.
