Pictured is an original hand-drawn literary illustration depicting George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans, 1819–1880). The artwork is executed in India ink on frosted glass and mounted as a glass slide measuring approximately 4" x 3 1/4". The slide contains biographical scenes and notes relating to Eliot's life and literary career, including references to her work as a writer, editor, and poet.
