Heavily crazed antique ironstone in a squared serving form, a single sepia leaf sprig anchoring the well - pure farmhouse patina. SPECS: - Size: about 9 in square - Form: open vegetable / serving bowl - Body: white ironstone, brown line rim and leaf sprig (Tea Leaf family) Backstamp: Royal Ironstone China - Alfred Meakin - England, with the Royal Arms mark (lion, crown, unicorn) HISTORY: Tea Leaf and lustre-band ironstone was made by more than a dozen Staffordshire and American potteries from the 1850s on, the simple sprig meant to read as a lucky unfurled tea leaf.
