Product Details

Attractive Comitia Americana Lt. Colonel de Fleury / Stony Point medal with a bold antique pewter finish and strong Revolutionary War theme. One side shows a classical armored figure standing among the ruins of a fort with the inscription “VIRTUTIS ET AUDACIAE MONUM. ET PRAEMIUM”, meaning a memorial and reward for courage and boldness. The lower inscription honors D. de Fleury, French knight, recognized for being first over the walls. The opposite side depicts the fort at Stony Point, with ships in the background and the inscription “AGGERES PALUDES HOSTES VICTI”, referencing the defeated enemies, ramparts, and marshes. This is a nice historical collectible from the America’s First Medals reproduction series. Great piece for collectors of Revolutionary War medals, U.S. Mint medals, military history, or early American commemoratives. Please see photos for exact condition; light surface marks and handling are visible.
