Product Details

This is a 1972 U.S. Mint American Revolution Bicentennial bronze medal, featuring George Washington on the obverse and the Sons of Liberty / Liberty Tree / “Join or Die” design on the reverse. It was the first medal in the U.S. Mint’s American Revolution Bicentennial Administration medal series, sculpted by Ralph J. Menconi. Numista lists this issue as bronze, 38 mm, about 24.5 g, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. Attractive 1972 American Revolution Bicentennial George Washington bronze medal issued by the United States Mint. The obverse shows a right-facing bust of George Washington with the wording “AMERICAN REVOLUTION BICENTENNIAL” and “GEORGE WASHINGTON.” The reverse features the Liberty Tree, a colonial stamp marked “II Shilling VI Pence,” and the famous “Join or Die” emblem, with “SONS OF LIBERTY” around the rim. This is a great Revolutionary War / Bicentennial collectible with strong historical appeal. Appears to be in its original plastic packaging with bright bronze/copper colour and visible handling or plastic marks from storage. Please review photos for exact condition.
