Product Details

This rare, original 1927 silent film glass lantern slide serves as a promotional advertisement for the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer picture In Old Kentucky, directed by John M. Stahl. It features vivid hand-colored graphics depicting the film's stars, James Murray and Helene Costello, in a romantic embrace alongside an action sequence of a horse race. The slide glass is securely housed in its original heavy cardboard mount, heavily stapled and printed by "National Studios, Inc. Formerly Excelsior Illustrating Co., Inc." located at 228-232 West 56th Street, N.Y. The cardboard shows a patent date of July 1, 1924. This piece of early cinema ephemera measures approximately 4 by 3.25 inches, displaying minor flaking to the lower graphic and authentic age wear on the mount, making it a fantastic display piece for silent film or horse racing collectors. Size: 4 inches long (standard magic lantern size) Maker: National Studios Inc. Condition: Very good condition with no cracks or damage to the slide, shows some minor surface wear as pictured. Refer to the gallery image for a better idea of the subject matter and condition of the glass side, you will receive the exact slide that is pictured. Other: -
