These distinct decorative trays were famously handcrafted in Sorrento a region of Italy, a centuries-old tradition of fine woodworking and intarsia art inlay. This beautiful tray features a central inlay floral bouquet with a scrollwork design around the perimeter using Marquetry. Craftspeople meticulously cutout and puzzled together waffer-thin pieces of natural and tinted wood veneers to form a pattern. The finish is a thick glass like high gloss lacquer coating to protect the wood.The tray is framed in brass with decorative pierced gallery rail and matching handles.
