Vintage hardcover copy of Georges Seurat by noted art historian John Rewald, published by Wittenborn & Company of New York in 1946. This is the second English edition of Rewald’s study of French Neo-Impressionist and Pointillist artist Georges Seurat. The book includes biographical material along with black-and-white reproductions of Seurat’s artwork and a portrait frontispiece. The teal-green cloth cover has gold spine lettering and no dust jacket. Condition shows noticeable vintage wear, including rubbing and fraying at the corners and spine ends, scattered marks and discoloration to the cover, age spotting inside, and a handwritten price notation on the endpaper. Binding appears intact from the photos. Please review all images carefully for condition. A nice collectible for an art-history library, artist-themed display, or admirer of Impressionist and Pointillist art. The original English edition was published in 1943, while this copy is the 1946 edition.
