This is a vintage Platte Valley Straight Corn Whiskey ceramic liquor jug, a small stoneware advertising bottle produced for McCormick Distilling Co.. Your base mark “168-1970 / Liquor Bottle / 11-D16” lines up with a 1970-dated half-pint jug, and the front still retains its original blue transfer decoration for Platte Valley Straight Corn Whiskey. These little jugs were sold as whiskey packaging, but today they’re collected for barware, whiskey advertising, primitive kitchen, farmhouse, and Americana displays. At about 5 inches tall, yours is the smaller cabinet-friendly size and has nice shelf appeal with the warm brown glazed top and cream stoneware body. Comparable 1970 half-pint examples tend to be identified as McCormick/Platte Valley jugs from the late 1960s–early 1970s.
