Product Details

Yellowstone National Park railroad ephemera lot featuring a 1947 Northern Pacific Railway 75th Anniversary cacheted cover and an earlier yellow Northern Pacific Yellowstone travel brochure by Emerson Hough, author of The Covered Wagon. The envelope is postmarked Yellowstone Park, WYO, June 20, 1947, opening day of the 1947 season, with a 3-cent Thomas Jefferson stamp and E. E. Nelson, PTM, Northern Pacific Railway address. Brochure promotes Yellowstone via the air-conditioned North Coast Limited, Red Lodge High Road, Cody Road and Gardiner Gateway, with Old Faithful/park illustrations and Northern Pacific Yellowstone Park Line logo. Great railroadiana, national park, travel, and postal history display piece. E.E. Nelson was a longtime Passenger Traffic Manager for the Northern Pacific Railway and the chief architect behind the marketing of the Yellowstone Park line. Good vintage condition overall with age toning, light handling wear, minor edge/corner wear, and small marks consistent with paper items of this age. See pictures for further details on condition.
