Vintage Georgia State Map Playing Card. How do we know its Vintage? The Georgia Capitol building is drawn with a grey/dark dome. In real life, the dome was covered in pure Dahlonega gold leaf in 1958. Souvenirs made after the late 1950s and 1960s almost always prominently feature the building's "Gold Dome". ALSO, The map highlights cities like Griffin, Moultrie, Bainbridge, and Waycross. While these are still great Georgia towns today, they were major economic hubs and crucial overnight stops for travelers navigating regional highways (like U.S. Route 41 and U.S. Route 1) before the Interstate Highway System bypassed them in the 1960s and 1970s.
