Hand-carved wooden folk art sculpture depicting a man riding a water buffalo. The rider wears a broad traditional-style hat and carries a carved basket or pack on his back. The buffalo has especially nice detailing through the face, sweeping horns, ears, legs and tail. The entire piece has a warm brown finish that highlights the hand-carved details and wood grain. The somewhat rustic carving and aged surface give it plenty of character. This would make an interesting addition to a collection of Asian folk art, carved animals, primitive décor or vintage world décor. Measures approximately 10" long × 7½" tall. Preowned condition with age-related surface wear, rubbing, scratches and variations in the finish.
