Wonderful group of authentic vintage Union-Castle Line shipboard tableware, including three porcelain pedestal egg cups with pale blue bands and the Union-Castle Line crest, plus a substantial double-handled silver-plated sugar bowl. The sugar bowl bears the Union-Castle Line crest and is marked Mappin & Webb Ltd., London & Sheffield, Princes Plate, GV184 on the underside. Beautiful geometric border around the rim and a wonderfully aged silver-plate patina. Sugar bowl does not have its original lid. Union-Castle operated the famed passenger and mail service between Britain and South Africa, making surviving branded shipboard pieces especially fun for collectors of maritime, ocean liner, transportation and restaurant/hotel ware.
