Beautiful antique Edwardian paste brooch dating approximately c. 1900–1915, featuring rows of brilliant old-cut faceted clear glass paste stones individually prong set in an elegant openwork oval design. The paste stones display the wonderful irregularity associated with early glass jewelry, including uneven faceting and tiny internal bubbles creating exceptional sparkle and depth under the light. The reverse shows several important early construction details, including a traditional C-clasp, tube/barrel-style hinge and long magnetic steel pin stem extending beyond the body of the brooch. The brooch body itself is non-magnetic and displays a beautifully aged warm copper/brass-tone patina.
