Pictured is an ornate antique gilt cast-metal picture frame containing an early portrait photograph of an unidentified woman. The photograph's original mount bears a raised blind-embossed "Schaidner" studio seal. Research indicates Charles B. Schaidner (1850–1928) was an American photographer who operated a studio in the Bronx, New York. The substantial frame features elaborate pierced scrollwork and foliate decoration with an aged gold-tone finish. It retains its easel-back stand for tabletop or shelf display. Measurements: • Overall frame: approximately 12" high x 8 1/2" wide • Picture area: approximately 5 1/2" x 3 3/4" • Weight: approximately 1 lb 5.2 oz Metal information: An XRF surface scan indicated a copper-rich mixed-metal base containing iron, nickel and zinc, with thin gold plating or gilt finish.
