Beautiful and unusually well-preserved Roseville Pottery Dahlrose wall pocket, shape #1259-10, dating to approximately 1928. This is the larger Dahlrose wall-pocket form, measuring approximately 10.25 inches tall × 7 inches wide at the top. The dramatic tapered body features twin open handles framing raised daisy-like flowers and deeply modeled green foliage. The glaze is quintessential Dahlrose: warm mottled earthy brown and golden tones accented with rich greens and softly shaded cream flowers. The dimensional decoration and long architectural shape make this an especially striking example of American art pottery from the Arts & Crafts era. The reverse is unmarked, which is consistent with Roseville production of this period; examples from the Dahlrose line were originally identified with paper labels that are frequently no longer present. An especially interesting original construction detail is found on the reverse. The wall pocket has its original hanging hole along with three raised ceramic wall rests/spacers arranged to allow the vessel to sit securely against the wall without the entire glazed back contacting the surface. The spacers show expected contact wear from use. Condition: Remarkably nice antique condition for a piece approaching 100 years old. The top rim, pointed lower tip and delicate open handles are all intact. No chips, cracks or repairs noted. Please examine photographs carefully for the normal glaze characteristics, crazing and minor surface wear associated with age and use. A beautiful piece for a serious Roseville collection and equally compelling displayed in an Arts & Crafts, Craftsman, cottage, botanical or historic American interior.
