Fossil stingray dermal denticle with multiple fused elements from Florida. Dermal denticles are tooth-like structures that formed part of a ray’s protective skin covering. This specimen is especially interesting because several denticle structures remain naturally fused together rather than being preserved as a single isolated piece. Great surface detail and a really unusual example of fossil ray anatomy.
