I joined another Art Germ show fully intending to exercise some financial discipline. Then I saw the books. That plan lasted about five minutes.
Somehow I managed to add five incredible signed books to the collection, and I’m still amazed some of them were available when I claimed them. Highlights included finally picking up a Gwenom cover I’d been wanting for a long time, an amazing Blood & Guts #1 with Blade and a subtle but striking remark, a pair of beautiful Catwoman books, and an Uncanny X-Men cover featuring Wolverine and Sabretooth with an absolutely gorgeous two-tone gold and blue signature.
What continues to impress me is the attention to detail. The signature placement, color matching, and overall presentation elevate already fantastic covers into true display pieces.
As always, Michael ran a great show with amazing inventory and a fun atmosphere. My budget may currently be evaluating its life choices, but my collection has absolutely zero complaints. After wandering the barren wastelands of comic hunting and surviving many streams where fortune looked upon me and said, “Not today,” I finally found myself standing beneath a glorious rainstorm of absolute bangers.
Somehow, through a combination of luck, fate, cosmic alignment, and what I can only assume was temporary divine intervention, I managed to snag several incredible books with fantastic color matches and beautiful signature pairings. To this day, I still have no idea how some of these books were still available when my claim finally landed.
As always, Michael ran a fantastic show. Great books, great energy, and inventory capable of making even the most disciplined collector immediately forget the meaning of the word “budget.” Everything was clearly communicated, the books were sent directly to CGC as planned, and the COAs, numbered certificates, stickers, and updates were all handled perfectly.
