Season: Pat the chicken dry and rub both sides with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
Sear: Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place chicken smooth-side down and cook for 5 minutes without moving it to get a deep golden crust.
Flip: Turn the chicken and cook for another 2–4 minutes.
Butter & Garlic: Add the butter and minced garlic to the pan. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant and the butter is foamy.
Finish: If using broth or wine, pour it in now and let it simmer for 1.5 minutes while scraping the bottom of the pan to create a sauce.
