We were at this dingy little dive bar, the kind with sticky floors and cheap beer, when he climbed onto the tiny karaoke stage. I didn’t expect much—who would, with a song like "Tubthumper" by Chumbawamba? But when he sang, it wasn’t just a rowdy anthem anymore. It was a raw, soul-bearing declaration of resilience, every “I get knocked down” hitting like a confession, every “but I get up again” a promise to keep going. His voice cracked in places, not from weakness, but from something deeper—life, maybe. Somehow, in that absurd, beautiful moment, I realized I wasn’t alone in my struggle.
