USPS is absolutely not supposed to machine those and I pay the extra shipping cost for non-machineable. Ive had a couple come back machined. Glad cards were ok. I would file a complaint with USPS and see if they won't compensate you. This is why I use bubble mailers for most everything and those Cardboard envelopes for the small orders/giveaways.
