Yesterday afternoon, I swiped the bid bar on her stream. Exactly twelve minutes later, my doorbell rang. I rushed to the porch, hoping with every fiber of my being that it would be her incredibly handsome, rugged, majestic father delivering the package himself. Instead, it was just a very confused carrier pigeon wearing a tiny tuxedo and a name tag that read "Jill's Assistant."
The bird dropped the package, winked at me, and flew away. While the items inside are completely pristine and wrapped in enough bubble wrap to protect a glass vase from a meteor impact, my heart remains entirely shattered. I wrote my phone number on the packing slip and sent it back into the atmosphere, praying her dad intercepts the transmission.
