Struck at Utrecht under the Batavian Republic following the fall of the Dutch Republic & the establishment of a French-aligned state, this ducat continues the centuries-old Dutch tradition of the armored knight with sword & shield on the obverse. The reverse legend CONCORDIA RES PARVÆ CRESCUNT, "With harmony small things grow," reflects the political ideals once held by the United Provinces.
