Struck under Duke Christian (1611–1633) of Brunswick-Lüneburg-Celle, the obverse legend CHRISTIANUS D:G EL E P MIND DUX B ET LU, "Christian, by the Grace of God, Bishop-Administrator of Minden, Duke of Brunswick & Lüneburg," surrounds an armorial shield with helmets. The reverse motto IN SPE ET SILENTIO, "In hope & silence," dated 1622, reflects the personal device of the duke amid the opening years of the Thirty Years' War.
