Eliot.” Griff House was the childhood home of author George Eliot (Mary Ann Evans), making this both an architectural and literary collectible. The silk image area measures approximately 9.75" x 7", mounted on an 11" x 8" cardboard presentation board. The image depicts the ivy-covered country house associated with Eliot’s early life and was likely issued as an illustration plate from a biography of George Eliot, possibly a late 19th or early 20th century edition.
