Product Details

Beautiful high-relief Horatio Gates / Battle of Saratoga commemorative medal, part of the historic Comitia Americana medal series honoring heroes and victories of the American Revolution. The obverse features a left-facing bust of General Horatio Gates with the legend “HORATIO GATES DUCI STRENUO” and “COMITIA AMERICANA.” The reverse shows the surrender scene at Saratoga, with British General Burgoyne presenting his sword to Gates, commemorating the American victory of October 17, 1777. Collectible pewter U.S. Mint reproduction from the “America’s First Medals” series, not an original 1700s gold medal. Nice antique silver/pewter finish with strong detail and an attractive Revolutionary War history appeal. Please see photos for exact condition.
