Product Details
Struck at Alexandria under Carinus shortly after the death of Carus, this posthumous tetradrachm honors the deified emperor with the legend THEOKARO SEB & a laureate memorial portrait. The reverse type, APHIEROSIS, shows a flaming garlanded altar with a star, an unmistakable symbol of apotheosis, reflecting the official cult of the deified Carus in Egypt during AD 283–284.
