Finely bound in full crimson-red morocco, the covers richly decorated in gilt with elaborate Art Nouveau-influenced floral borders and multiple gilt rules. Raised bands to the spines, compartments extensively tooled in gilt with floral ornaments, and titles and volume numbers lettered in gilt. Particularly attractive wide gilt-tooled turn-ins, with repeating foliate rolls and corner ornaments; marbled endpapers in cream, blue, and white. Top edges gilt. Binding unsigned. Condition: Good to Very Good. Bindings remain attractive and structurally sound, with moderate rubbing and areas of leather loss along the joints, spine extremities, corners, and board edges, more pronounced in places. Gilt decoration remains remarkably bright and well preserved. Some rubbing and age-toning to the text-block edges. Marbled endpapers and elaborate gilt turn-ins remain especially clean and vibrant. Internally generally clean with expected light age toning. A very decorative example of this desirable ed.
