pair of vintage Mexican folk art dolls, handmade in Mexico and dressed in traditional-style clothing. The male figure wears a woven straw sombrero, printed red jacket, cream trousers and intricately wrapped huarache-style sandals. He carries a miniature pottery piece. The female wears a woven straw hat, black yarn braids tied with colorful yarn, a cream blouse with lace sleeves and a yellow floral skirt finished with wide lace trim. She also carries a tiny handmade pottery jug. Both have wonderful hand-painted facial features with large expressive eyes and dimensional noses. The handmade construction, textiles, woven hats, tiny sandals and pottery accessories give these much more character than typical mass-produced souvenir dolls. The male measures approximately 11" tall and the female approximately 14" tall including their clothing/hat. Combined weight is approximately 12.9 oz.
