Product Details

Eerie #32, a vintage horror comics magazine published by Warren Publishing in March 1971. Unlike mainstream color comic books of its era, Eerie was printed in a larger black-and-white magazine format. This let Warren bypass the restrictive Comics Code Authority, allowing for much more mature, graphic, and experimental content. Cover Artist: Legendary underground and mainstream fantasy artist Richard Corben. His signature, hyper-muscular and airbrushed styling is highly evident on the beast. The "Superhero" Feature: The prominent red box on the lower left asks, "What? A Superhero in Eerie?". This refers to the inside story titled "Superhero!", written by Steve Skeates and illustrated by Tom Sutton. It is a satirical, dark parody of a Batman-style crime-fighter named "Crime Crusher" to subvert superhero tropes.
