This is an original vintage East German papier-mché Easter egg candy container / presentation box, stamped "Made in German Democratic Republic" on the interior lining. The two-piece nesting egg features a vibrant full-color lithographed storybook illustration depicting a mother and father rabbit caring for a baby bunny in a red cradle outside their thatched-roof cottage, surrounded by bright spring flowers, pussy willows, and small yellow chicks. The center seam retains a portion of its original white embossed paper lace trim. The interior is lined with its original green-printed calico floral pattern paper. Condition is very good vintage with excellent color saturation and gloss. It shows typical minor surface crazing to the outer paper wrap, an intact shell structure, and typical age-appropriate wear and loss to the delicate paper lace border along the seam. Measures 6 inches long.
