This is an original antique primitive turned hardwood miniature butter print / plunger butter mold (c. late 19th to early 20th century). Turned from solid hardwood (likely maple or birch), this two-piece individual portion/pat mold features a turned outer cup with ribbed incised banding and an internal sliding plunger. The intaglio face of the plunger is deeply hand-carved with a classic eight-petal star / rosette floral motif. Condition is very good antique with an authentic, uncleaned warm honey patina, smooth surface wear from genuine kitchen use, and a minor age-related hairline drying fissure on the side of the turned cup that remains tight and structurally stable.
